U.S. Customs and Border Protection is recruiting Border Patrol Agents (BPA) in entry and mid-level positions across the United States. BPAs protect the U.S. by enforcing immigration and customs laws and safeguarding borders.

Positions can start at GL-5, GL-7, GL-9, or GS-11 levels with opportunities for promotion to GS-12, and a comprehensive benefits package including health and retirement plans. Recruitment and retention incentives may total up to $50,000 over time.

Qualifikationen

• One year of general work experience demonstrating leadership, decision-making, and composure in stressful situations.
• A bachelor’s degree or successful completion of a full four-year course leading to a bachelor’s degree.
• Combination of general work experience and college education may meet qualifications.
• Formal training may substitute for experience in certain cases.

• Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration violations and inspect documents.
• Prevent undocumented noncitizens and smugglers from entering the country near borders.
• Interpret tracks and physical evidence of illegal entry.
• Perform farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks.
• Patrol international boundaries and waterways using various assets.
