Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seeks Border Patrol Agents (BPA) to join a large federal law enforcement workforce. The role offers base pay within GL-5 to GS-12, comprehensive benefits, and potential recruitment/retention incentives up to 50,000+ over time, plus retirement through the Thrift Savings Plan.

Candidates may qualify with education or prior public safety experience. Duties include border surveillance, questioning individuals, inspecting documents, and patrolling diverse U.S.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience or education combination to qualify.
• Ability to learn regulations, methods, and techniques through training.
• Capability to gather information through questioning and records.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of immigration or customs violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders.
• Interpreting tracks and evidence of illegal entry.
• Performing farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks.
• Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using various assets.
