Job summary

Customs and Border Protection is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) at various grades (GL-5, GL-7, GL-9 or GS-11) with competitive base pay and strong federal benefits including health, leave, and Thrift Savings Plan. Recruitment incentives up to $20,000 are available, with additional incentives for prioritised locations. Eligibility includes U.S.

citizenship and compliance with security requirements. These roles involve border surveillance, investigations, and enforcing immigration and customs

Qualifications

• Knowledge of immigration/nationality law and related policy.
• Familiar with use-of-force policies and legal procedures.
• Experience or training in applying criminal law and procedure.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of immigration/customs violations and inspect documents.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and available assets.
• Interpret tracks and evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Conduct farm/building/traffic/city/transport checks as part of patrol duties.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using vehicles, horses, vessels and other assets.
