U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is recruiting Border Patrol Agents (BPA) to join a large federal law enforcement workforce. The BPA role spans entry and mid-level career tracks with potential for progression, competitive base pay, comprehensive benefits, and incentives to recruit and retain personnel.

Selections will be at GL-5, GL-7, GL-9 or GS-11 with potential promotion to GS-12. Recruitment incentives up to $20,000 and retention incentives up to $30,000 are offered, with up to

Qualifikationen

• One year of general work experience showing ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and maintain composure in stressful situations.
• Bachelor’s degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• A combination of general work experience AND college education may qualify.

Aufgaben

• Detect immigration and customs violations and inspect documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and various assets.
• Interpret tracks, marks and other physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks.
• Patrol the international boundary and coastal waterways using vehicles, horses, vessels, and other assets.
