Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is seeking Border Patrol Agents (BPA) to join a large federal law enforcement workforce.

The role offers base pay across multiple grades (GL-5 to GS-11, with potential to GS-12) and attractive federal benefits, including health and retirement plans. Incentives total up to $20,000, with additional retention options possible, and prioritized duty locations within the United States.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience or equivalent education in public safety or related field.
• Bachelor's degree or completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree.
• Combination of experience and education may qualify for higher grades.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance techniques.
• Interpreting tracks, marks, and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Performing farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks during patrols.
• Patrolling international boundaries and coastal waterways using various assets to fulfill CBP mission.
