U.S. Customs and Border Protection is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) to serve across the United States. This federal law enforcement role offers competitive base pay, extensive benefits, job stability, and potential recruitment/retention incentives. Training begins at the Border Patrol Academy after appointment.

Opportunities range from GL-5 to GS-11 levels, with diverse duty locations nationwide and pathways to career advancement within CBP.

Qualificações

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• One year of general work experience demonstrating the ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and maintain composure in stressful situations; OR a bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree.
• Formal training: after hire, Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, NM, for six months, and language training in Spanish as needed.

Responsabilidades

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and infrared scopes during night operations.
• Interpreting and following tracks, marks, and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks.
• Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using various government assets to fulfill the USBP mission.
