Books-A-Million in Goldsboro, NC is seeking a General Manager to lead the store daily with the management team, own results, and create an engaging, community-focused experience for customers.

You’ll hire and coach a books-loving team, drive sales and service, manage operations and budget, and build partnerships with local readers. This leadership role blends business results with a passion for books and community involvement.

Qualifications

• 21 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous management experience.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Demonstrated ability to act in a mature and conscientious manner.
• Ability to supervise a large number of associates.
• Strong decision-making, communication, and merchandising skills.
• Successful completion of all required background screenings.

Responsibilities

• Lead store day-to-day operations as Manager On Duty with the management team.
• Hire, coach, and inspire a team that loves books and serves customers.
• Grow leaders around you through hands-on coaching and development.
• Ensure daily briefings and weekly meetings align goals and plans.
• Drive sales, customer service, and community engagement while managing budget and operations.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming environment and a store that reflects the neighborhood.
