Job summary

Barnes & Noble College is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, supervise staff, and deliver outstanding customer service in a college bookstore environment.

You will assist with purchasing, scheduling, and team development, aiming to meet sales goals and enhance bookstore loyalty. Flexible hours and on-campus customers are part of the role.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in a retail setting.
• 1+ year supervisory experience preferred or a graduate of the Best Seller Program.
• High school diploma/GED preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Familiarity with financial and customer service principles.
• Basic reading, writing and accounting skills required.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills needed.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support all store operations and departments in partnership with the Store Manager.
• Direct operational functions and assist with scheduling and team development.
• Deliver outstanding customer service to students, faculty, and general public.
• Help meet or exceed sales goals and identify business opportunities.
• Train, direct, and counsel team to create excitement around products and initiatives.
• Drive the team to create memorable customer experiences and loyalty.
