Job summary

Barnes & Noble College is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily bookstore operations, coaching a team and ensuring outstanding customer service.

You will help with store performance, scheduling, training, and driving sales while delivering a welcoming campus store experience for students, faculty, and staff.

This role emphasizes leadership, cash handling, and collaboration with the Store Manager to meet goals and uphold brand standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in a retail setting.
• 1+ year supervisory experience preferred or a graduate of the Best Seller Program.
• High school diploma/GED preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Familiarity with financial and customer service principles.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support all store operations and departments in partnership with the Store Manager or General Manager.
• Involve in purchasing for one or more departments, directing operational functions, and/or scheduling and team development.
• Deliver outstanding customer service to the campus community while helping the store meet or exceed sales goals.
• Direct, train, and counsel team to create excitement around products, programs, and initiatives.
• Drive customer experiences that enhance bookstore loyalty and deliver measurable results.
• Maintain a presence on the sales floor to greet customers and assist with purchases.
