Job summary

Barnes & Noble College is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support the daily operation of the bookstore and supervise staff. You will work closely with the Store or General Manager, ensuring strong customer service, training, and sales performance across departments.

The role requires leadership, ability to manage schedules, and a commitment to delivering excellent customer experiences in a busy campus bookstore environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in a retail setting.
• 1+ year supervisory experience preferred or a graduate of the Best Seller Program.
• High school diploma/GED preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support all store operations and departments in partnership with the Store Manager or General Manager.
• Involve in purchasing for departments, directing operational functions, and/or scheduling and team development.
• Deliver outstanding customer service to the academic community while helping the store meet sales goals and identify business opportunities.
• Train, direct, and counsel team to create excitement around products and initiatives; drive customer experiences and loyalty.
