Job summary

Barnes & Noble College is seeking a proactive Assistant Store Manager to support daily bookstore operations and drive sales. You will supervise staff, deliver exceptional customer service, manage cash handling, and collaborate with the Store Manager to execute company directives.

This role requires retail experience, supervisory skills, and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. You will help train team members, maintain an inviting sales floor, and assist with hiring while

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in a retail setting.
• 1+ year supervisory experience preferred or a graduate of the Best Seller Program.
• High school diploma/GED preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Familiarity with financial and customer service principles.
• Basic reading, writing and accounting skills required.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills needed.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support all store operations and departments in partnership with the Store Manager.
• Deliver outstanding customer service to students, faculty, and community while helping meet sales goals.
• Assist with hiring, training, and coaching team members to improve performance.
• Maintain an appealing sales floor and process sales transactions.
