Job summary

Barnes & Noble College is looking for an Assistant Store Manager to support daily bookstore operations and supervise staff in a campus store. You will engage customers, handle cash and financial transactions, and help drive sales while maintaining an inviting retail environment.

The role requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, with focus on training, scheduling, and ensuring excellent customer experiences.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in a retail setting.
• 1+ year supervisory experience preferred or a graduate of the Best Seller Program.
• High school diploma/GED preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Familiarity with financial and customer service principles.
• Basic reading, writing and accounting skills required.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills needed.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support all store operations and departments in partnership with the Store Manager or General Manager.
• Involve in purchasing for one or more departments and scheduling and team development.
• Deliver outstanding customer service to the campus community while helping meet or exceed sales goals.
