Barnes & Noble College is hiring an Assistant Store Manager to support the daily operations of our campus bookstore. You will supervise staff, assist the Store Manager, and work directly with customers to ensure a high-quality shopping experience.

You will help drive sales, manage scheduling, training, and development, and maintain an engaging sales floor. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and a commitment to outstanding service within an academic community.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in a retail setting.
• 1+ year supervisory experience preferred or a graduate of the Best Seller Program.
• High school diploma/GED preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Familiarity with financial and customer service principles.
• Basic reading, writing and accounting skills required.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills needed.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support all store operations and departments in partnership with the Store Manager or General Manager.
• Direct operational functions and scheduling and team development as needed.
• Deliver outstanding customer service to the academic community while helping the store meet or exceed sales goals.
• Train and develop staff to create excitement around products, programs, and initiatives.
• Drive the team to create customer experiences that build bookstore loyalty and measurable results.
