Job summary

Books-A-Million in Sunrise, FL is seeking a General Manager in Training to learn every side of leading a store—from the team and customers to the numbers and community.

As GMIT, you’ll run day-to-day operations with the management team, build a strong staff, drive sales and service, and prepare to own a store of your own after program completion.

This is a full-time role focused on leadership development and progression to a store location with guidance from the General Manager.

Qualifications

• 21 years of age or older
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in a supervisor role
• Ability to supervise a large number of associates
• Strong decision-making, communication, and merchandising skills
• Successful completion of all required background screenings
• A college degree in a business-related field is preferred
• Experience in book, specialty, or media retail is preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead store operations as Manager On Duty and drive sales and customer service
• Learn the store's financials alongside the GM and manage expenses
• Hire and develop a capable team and set schedules
• Coach and develop management staff and ensure store goals
• Maintain daily briefings and weekly/monthly meetings with the team
