Job Overview

When you join our team you will utilize your healthcare and/or customer service skills to assist with every step of the blood collection process. This includes collaborating with your team to transport and set up equipment at collection sites, creating a welcoming environment for volunteer donors, and following safety procedures while collecting lifesaving blood donations that are delivered to hospitals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take the time to personally connect with donors—listen to their stories and help them understand how impactful their donation is.
  • Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming and friendly environment so volunteers feel comfortable returning again and again.
  • Be detail oriented throughout the day to ensure that the blood collected meets regulatory requirements and can be safely transfused.
  • May drive Red Cross vehicles and work with the team to set up and tear down equipment at donation sites. Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to operate Red Cross vehicles safely.
Standard Schedule
  • The schedule is variable and may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional overnight travel.
  • Schedule is provided two to three weeks in advance.
Pay Information
  • Starting rate $18.20/hour.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills.
  • Current, valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • DOT certification required; must pass applicable DOT physical and obtain a medical certification of at least one-year duration.
  • Physical requirements: ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights, navigate ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, ability to sit or stand for long periods, and adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes.
  • Must be able to operate Red Cross vehicles safely; minimum height of 60 inches.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Competitive Edge
  • Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.).
  • Prior leadership experience.
