Job summary

American Red Cross is seeking a phlebotomy-trained team member for a mobile blood collection unit. The role involves transporting and setting up equipment at donation sites, creating a welcoming environment for volunteer donors, and following safety procedures while collecting lifesaving blood donations.

You will collaborate with a team to connect with donors, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive and assist with setup and teardown of equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Physical requirements: ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs; good manual dexterity; ability to sit or stand for long periods and adapt to irregular hours and frequent schedule changes.
• Minimum height of 60 inches to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.
• Basic computer skills – proficiency with Microsoft Office.

We provide paid training in phlebotomy for a role in a mobile blood collection team. • Be detail oriented throughout the day to ensure collected blood meets regulatory requirements and can be safely transfused.
• Drive Red Cross vehicles as needed and work with the team to set up and tear down equipment at donation sites.
• Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.

Standard Schedule

• Variable shift with two consecutive days off.
• Staff may work early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays, and sometimes overnight travel is required.
• Schedule is provided two to three weeks in advance.

Pay Information

• Starting rate: $18.73 per hour.
• This position is under a union contract.
