Job summary

Blue Water Thinking is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician to ensure reliability, safety, and security of medical devices at the Kansas City VA Medical Center. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, inspections, and software updates, plus collaborate on Cerner EHR integration and device security.

The role requires strong technical skills, problem solving, and a commitment to patient care.

Qualifications

• Two-year associate degree or higher in an applied science or equivalent military training.
• Minimum five years hospital or healthcare experience performing medical equipment maintenance.
• Understanding of regulatory requirements, industry standards (ISO).
• Familiarity with setup and use of test equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical literature, schematics, and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on diverse medical equipment to ensure safety and functionality.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctions following manufacturer guidelines.
• Conduct incoming inspections of new equipment for safety and functionality.
• Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to implement device security protocols.
• Install, calibrate, and configure medical equipment per manufacturer instructions.
• Conduct electrical safety inspections and address hazards.
• Monitor hazard recalls and coordinate resolutions with manufacturers.
