Job summary

Blue Water Thinking, LLC, based in Portland, OR, seeks a Biomedical Equipment Technician III to ensure reliability and safety of medical devices at the VA. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, device security collaboration with IT, and Cerner integration experience.

Qualifications

• Two-year associate degree or higher in an applied science or equivalent military training.
• Demonstrated competency to perform operational verification procedures, planned maintenance, and repair service on various medical equipment.
• Understanding of regulatory agencies’ requirements, industry regulatory requirements and International Standard Organization standards.
• Familiarity with the setup and application of test equipment.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical literature, schematics, and drawings.
• Level III Experience - A minimum of five years of hospital or healthcare experience performing medical equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on a diverse range of medical equipment to ensure optimal functionality and extend equipment lifespan.
• Conduct corrective maintenance by diagnosing and repairing malfunctions in medical devices, adhering to manufacturer’s guidelines and technical specifications.
• Carry out incoming inspections of new medical equipment to verify safety, functionality and accuracy.
• Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to implement and maintain medical device security protocols, ensuring patient data confidentiality.
• Install, calibrate, and configure medical equipment per manufacturer instructions and safety guidelines.
• Conduct electrical safety inspections to identify and address hazards.
• Monitor and address hazard and safety recalls related to medical equipment, coordinating with manufacturers for resolution.
• Perform software repairs and updates on medical devices to address glitches and ensure compatibility with other systems.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using CMMS.
• Provide technical support and training to medical staff on equipment operation.
• Stay updated on industry trends and regulations related to biomedical equipment technology.
