Job summary

Blue Water Thinking seeks a Biomedical Equipment Technician to join the Kansas City VA Medical Center team. The role ensures reliability, safety, and effective operation of medical equipment, including preventive and corrective maintenance, installations, electrical safety inspections, and Cerner integration.

You will support patient care through rigorous device management and staff training. Ideal candidates have Level III hospital experience, an associate degree or higher in an applied

Qualifications

• Two-year associate degree or higher in an applied science or equivalent Military training.
• Demonstrated competency to perform operational verification procedures, planned maintenance, and repair service on medical equipment.
• Understanding regulatory agencies’ requirements and ISO standards.
• Familiarity with test equipment setup.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical literature, schematics and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on a range of medical equipment to ensure functionality and extend lifespan.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctions per manufacturer guidelines.
• Conduct incoming inspections of new equipment for safety and functionality.
• Collaborate with IT/cybersecurity to implement medical device security protocols.
• Install, calibrate, and configure equipment per manufacturer instructions and safety guidelines.
• Conduct electrical safety inspections to identify hazards.
