Job summary

Blue Water Thinking, LLC is hiring a Biomedical Equipment Technician to maintain and support medical devices at the VA. The role covers preventive and corrective maintenance, device security, installations, electrical safety, recalls, software updates, and Cerner integration, with a focus on patient care and equipment reliability.

The candidate will work onsite in Seattle, WA, collaborating with IT and clinical staff, and must meet robust qualification requirements including a two-year degree

Qualifications

• Two-year associate degree or higher in an applied science or equivalent military training.
• Demonstrated competency to perform verification, planned maintenance, and repair on medical equipment.
• Understanding of regulatory requirements and ISO standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on medical equipment to ensure functionality and longevity.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctions following manufacturer guidelines.
• Inspect new equipment for safety and functionality.
• Collaborate with IT/cybersecurity to maintain device security and patient data protection.
• Install, calibrate, and configure equipment per manufacturer specs.
• Conduct electrical safety inspections and address hazards.
• Monitor hazard recalls and coordinate resolutions with manufacturers.
• Perform software updates and ensure system compatibility.
• Maintain records in CMMS for maintenance and repairs.
• Provide training to staff on proper equipment use.
• Stay updated on biomedical trends and regulations and apply them daily.
• Assist with Cerner EHR integration and workflows.
