Job summary

Blue Water Thinking seeks a Biomedical Equipment Technician to ensure the reliability, safety, and performance of medical devices at the VA in Mather, CA. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, inspections, hardware/software updates, and equipment installations.

The role requires a two-year degree or equivalent military training, five years of hospital experience, and familiarity with Cerner EHR.

Qualifications

• Two-year associate degree or higher in an applied science or equivalent military training.
• Demonstrated competency to perform operational verification, planned maintenance, and repair on medical equipment.
• Understanding of regulatory requirements and ISO standards.
• Familiarity with test equipment setup and application.
• Ability to read and interpret technical literature, schematics, and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on diverse medical equipment to ensure functionality and longevity.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctions following manufacturer guidelines.
• Conduct incoming inspections for safety and accuracy of new equipment.
• Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to implement device security protocols.
• Install, calibrate, and configure equipment per manufacturer instructions and safety guidelines.
• Perform electrical safety inspections and address potential hazards.
• Address hazard recalls and coordinate resolution with manufacturers.
