Job summary

Blue Water Thinking is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician to ensure the reliability, functionality, and safety of medical equipment at the VA. Responsibilities include preventive and corrective maintenance, device security, software updates, and Cerner integration, with emphasis on patient care and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, problem-solving skills, and experience in hospital environments, plus familiarity with CMMS and EHR systems.

Qualifications

• Two-year associate degree or higher in an applied science or equivalent military training.
• Demonstrated competency to perform operational verification procedures, planned maintenance, and repair service on various medical equipment.
• Understanding of regulatory agencies’ requirements, industry regulatory requirements and ISO standards.
• Familiarity with the setup and application of test equipment.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical literature, schematics, and drawings.
• Level I Experience - minimum one year of hospital or healthcare experience in equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on medical equipment to ensure functionality and extend lifespan.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctions in medical devices following manufacturer specs.
• Carry out incoming inspections of new equipment for safety and functionality.
• Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to implement medical device security protocols.
• Install, calibrate, and configure medical equipment per manufacturer instructions.
