Job summary

Blue Water Thinking is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician to ensure the reliability, safety, and proper functioning of medical devices at the VA Grand Junction facility. The role covers preventive and corrective maintenance, security, installations, electrical safety, recalls, software updates, and Cerner integration support.

The ideal candidate will have a two-year associate degree or higher (or equivalent military training), at least five years of Level III healthcare experience,

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in an applied science or equivalent military training.
• Five years of hospital/healthcare experience performing medical equipment maintenance (Level III).
• Understanding of regulatory requirements and ISO standards.
• Familiarity with setup and application of test equipment.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical literature, schematics, and drawings.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship and able to obtain federal public trust clearance.
• Must provide proof of COVID vaccination and Flu vaccination (or valid exemption).

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on a diverse range of medical equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
• Conduct corrective maintenance by diagnosing and repairing malfunctions per OEM specs.
• Carry out incoming inspections of new medical equipment for safety and functionality.
• Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to implement medical device security protocols.
• Install, calibrate, and configure medical equipment per manufacturer instructions.
• Conduct electrical safety inspections and address potential hazards.
• Monitor hazard recalls and coordinate resolutions with manufacturers.
• Perform software repairs and updates to address glitches and ensure system compatibility.
• Maintain accurate CMMS records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
• Provide technical support and training to medical staff on equipment operation.
• Stay updated on biomedical equipment trends and regulations; integrate into daily tasks.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless equipment operations.
• Experience with Cerner EHR integration is preferred.
