NorthShore University HealthSystem seeks a Supervisor, Biomedical Equipment Technician to lead a team of technicians across multiple sites, directing day-to-day operations and ensuring safe, reliable clinical engineering services. You will allocate work, coach staff, and coordinate vendor resources to meet maintenance goals.

The role emphasizes planning, regulatory compliance, hands-on maintenance of complex devices, and mentorship of interns.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate's degree in biomedical or electronics technology or equivalent military training.
• Licensure: Valid driver's license.
• Certification: Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) - Preferred.
• Experience: Typically 5 years of experience in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and design of biomedical equipment or comparable devices.
• Unique or Preferred Skills: OEM training on advanced devices such as ventilators, physiological monitoring systems, or surgical equipment.
• Skills: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); planned-maintenance scheduling and work-order assignment; advanced troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of complex medical devices.
• Abilities: Plan, allocate, and monitor technician and vendor resources; mentor junior technicians and student interns; lead safety and customer-service rounding; travel to various sites.

Responsabilités

• Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision of Biomedical Equipment Technicians, including work direction, coaching, performance feedback, development, training, and accountability.
• Manage planned maintenance schedules and assign planned and unscheduled work orders based on technician capabilities and service needs; coordinate vendor resources.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair non-imaging diagnostic and therapeutic medical devices; install, calibrate, and test new medical devices and systems.
• Ensure work complies with manufacturer guidelines, codes, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies; monitor performance and quality.
• Partner with Operations Manager on safety and customer-service rounding; participate in safety meetings and service recovery.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to technicians and interns; identify training needs and support growth.
• Support refurbishment, relocation, and equipment-modification projects; review literature to improve service practices.
