Job summary

NorthShore University HealthSystem is seeking a Supervisor, Biomedical Equipment Technician to provide day-to-day leadership and supervision of a team of Biomedical Equipment Technicians. You will plan maintenance, allocate staff and vendor resources, and ensure safe, high-quality clinical engineering services across multiple hospital sites.

The role requires an Associate's degree in biomedical or electronics technology, a CBET certification (preferred), and typically 5 years of preventive

Qualifications

• Education: Associate's degree in biomedical or electronics technology (or equivalent).
• Licensure: Valid driver's license.
• Certification: CBET - Preferred.
• Experience: Typically 5 years in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and design of biomedical equipment.
• Abilities: Plan, allocate, and monitor technician and vendor resources; mentor junior technicians and student interns; lead safety and customer-service rounding.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision of Biomedical Equipment Technicians.
• Manage planned maintenance schedules and assign work orders based on workload.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair non-imaging diagnostic and therapeutic devices; install and test new devices.
• Ensure compliance with manufacturer guidelines, codes, and regulations; monitor quality.
• Partner with CE Operations Manager on safety and customer-service activities; participate in meetings.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to technicians and interns; identify training needs.
• Support refurbishment, relocation, and equipment-modification projects.
• Identify equipment replacement needs and collaborate with manufacturers for information.
