Job summary

Blue Water Thinking, LLC is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician to ensure safety and reliability of medical devices at the VA. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, inspections, device security, and Cerner integration.

The role requires a two-year associate degree in an applied science or equivalent training, five years of hospital experience, and familiarity with CMMS and regulatory standards. Based in Des Moines, IA with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• A two-year associate degree or higher in an applied science or equivalent military training.
• Competency to perform verification, planned maintenance, and repair on medical equipment.
• Understanding of regulatory/regulatory requirements and ISO standards.
• Familiarity with test equipment setup and application.
• Ability to read and interpret technical literature, schematics and drawings.
• Five years hospital/healthcare experience maintaining medical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on a diverse range of medical equipment.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctions following manufacturer guidelines.
• Carry out incoming inspections of new equipment for safety and functionality.
• Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams on device security protocols.
• Install, calibrate, and configure medical equipment per manufacturer instructions.
• Conduct electrical safety inspections and address hazards.
• Monitor hazard and safety recalls and coordinate resolutions.
• Perform software repairs and updates for devices and ensure compatibility.
• Maintain accurate CMMS records of maintenance and inspections.
• Provide technical support and training to medical staff.
• Keep up with industry trends and regulatory changes in biomedical tech.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize equipment operations.
• Experience with Cerner EHR integration is preferred.
