Job summary

Blue Water Thinking seeks a Biomedical Equipment Technician – Info/Sys to join our healthcare facility’s dynamic team in Aurora, CO. You will ensure reliability, safety, and cybersecurity of networked medical equipment, including Cerner integrations, through preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and software updates.

The role requires strong networking and medical device knowledge, collaboration with IT and clinical staff, and adherence to patient-care standards.

Qualifications

• Two-year associate degree or higher in an applied science or equivalent military training.
• Minimum of three years hospital/healthcare equipment maintenance with at least one year in medical information systems and networking.
• Knowledge of computer virus protection software, patches, and information security tools.
• Experience with TCP/IP, HL7, networking, and DICOM standards; VLANs, IP addressing, and network security.
• Understanding of regulatory requirements and ISO standards.
• Familiarity with a broad range of network test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on networked medical equipment to ensure functionality and longevity.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctions following manufacturer guidelines.
• Conduct incoming inspections of new medical equipment for safety and accuracy.
• Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity to implement medical device security controls.
• Install, calibrate, configure, and document medical equipment per instructions.
• Address hazard recalls and coordinate with manufacturers and departments for resolution.
• Perform software repairs and updates to ensure compatibility with systems.
• Maintain CMMS records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
• Provide technical training to medical staff on device operation and safety.
• Keep abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes in biomedical equipment technology.
• Collaborate with clinicians to ensure seamless equipment operation and patient care.
