Job summary

Troutman Pepper Locke LLP in New York is seeking a Billing Manager to lead the Billing team, supervise daily operations, and ensure accurate, timely invoicing in line with client guidelines.

You will partner with attorneys and Legal Support, drive workflow improvements, and mentor staff while maintaining high professional standards and regulatory compliance. The role supports the monthly close cycle and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
• Minimum 5 years managing a large team in high-volume environment.
• Experience in a law firm preferred.
• Experience with eBilling preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic updates about billing to firm leadership.
• Review and/or prepare daily, weekly, or monthly reports as required.
• Review and monitor Billing transactions to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and conformance to policies.
• Develop strategies to optimize workflow.
• Collaborate with attorneys and Legal Support to design invoicing meeting client needs.
• Respond to customer inquiries about billing with high service levels.
• Act as liaison between Legal, Billing, and Troutman teams.
• Lead monthly close cycle and department meetings.
• Monitor timekeeping policies to ensure client guidelines.
• Manage, develop, and mentor Billing team members.
• Maintain team expectations and evaluate performance.
• Utilize technology to maximize efficiency and professionalism.
• Build strong relationships with attorneys and staff.
