Job summary

Troutman Pepper Locke LLP is seeking a Billing Manager to lead the firm’s Billing team, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and client-aligned invoicing. You will drive workflow improvements, provide reporting to leadership, and mentor team members in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Ideal candidates have extensive experience with law-firm billing, strong project management and communication skills, and a proactive approach to process optimization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent with relevant experience.
• At least five years' experience managing a large team in a high-volume environment.
• Experience in a law firm preferred.
• Experience with eBilling preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic updates about billing to team leadership.
• Review and/or prepare daily, weekly, or monthly reports as required.
• Review and monitor Billing transactions and activities for accuracy and timeliness.
• Develop strategies to optimize workflow.
• Collaborate with attorneys to design invoicing meeting client needs and guidelines.
• Address customer inquiries about billing with high-quality service.
• Act as liaison between Legal, Billing, and Troutman teams.
• Lead department meetings and mentor direct reports.
• Ensure compliance with timekeeping policies and client guidelines.
• Oversee monthly close cycle and billing processes.
• Train and develop Billing team members with leadership.
