Job summary

State of Oregon is seeking an Entry Public Benefits Specialist to be the first contact in an office, delivering professional service to clients and maintaining accurate records. The role supports eligibility and connects clients with resources in a fast-paced environment.

Preference may be given to bilingual English/Spanish speakers. This is a full‑time, in-office position in Canby, OR, with a focus on equitable service delivery and trauma‑informed practices.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in a reception area or call center with high-volume data entry and accurate recordkeeping.
• An associate degree in Behavioral Science, Social Science or related field with six months in a busy reception/call center.
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver professional, respectful customer service in a diverse, inclusive environment.
• Manage administrative tasks: phone, email, mail, records, data entry, meetings, and tracking in agency systems.
• Explain benefits and program requirements, assist with applications, and reference community resources.
• Apply agency policies and ensure timely processing of client services.
• Connect individuals and families with community resources and support services.
