Job summary

Department of Human Services in Oregon is seeking an entry-level Public Benefits Specialist to join the support staff team. You will be the first point of contact, handling calls, emails, and in-person inquiries with professionalism and cultural responsiveness.

You will assist with eligibility explanations, data entry, and coordinating resources while maintaining accurate case records. Preference for bilingual English/Spanish. Canby, OR location.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in a reception area or call center with high-volume data entry and customer service.
• Associate degree in Behavioral Science, Social Science or related field with six months of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination.
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience relative to the class concept.

Responsibilities

• Be the first face of contact, delivering professional, respectful, and culturally responsive service.
• Manage administrative tasks: phone, email, mail, electronic records, data entry, and meeting coordination.
• Provide eligibility support by explaining benefits, procedures, and community resources; maintain case documentation.
• Apply policies and regulations to make informed decisions and ensure timely processing of client services.
• Connect individuals and families with community resources and support services.
