Job summary

Emerus is seeking a Patient Access Specialist at the Kelly location to liaise with patients, payers, and the healthcare team. You will collect demographics, verify insurance, and secure out-of-pocket payments to maximize hospital reimbursement.

Responsibilities include EMTALA/HIPAA compliance, courteous customer service, and accurate data entry. Prior ED registration experience is a plus; Spanish language skills can help in certain markets.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience in health care preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience preferred.
• Knowledge of insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors.
• English fluency required; Spanish language skills helpful in some markets.

Responsibilities

• Maintain EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA compliance in Admissions and Medical Records handling.
• Provide excellent customer service by meeting patient and payer needs and building relationships.
• Verify demographics and insurance information for all accounts to facilitate revenue cycle processing.
• Obtain signatures on forms and consents and ensure proper patient identification.
• Assist with coordinating patient transfers and responding to medical record requests.
