Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) required.
• Fluency in English; Spanish required in the El Paso market.
• MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) knowledge strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA compliance in Admissions and Medical Records.
• Provide excellent customer service and build patient relationships.
• Identify and triage patients upon arrival to ensure safety.
• Answer incoming calls and relay messages to medical staff.
• Obtain signatures on forms and consents.
• Enter complete and accurate demographic information to support revenue cycle.
• Verify insurance benefits and payor details in the patient accounting system.
• Obtain insurance authorizations as required.
• Pursue collections at the time of service with courtesy.
• Scan registrations and documents into the system.
• Coordinate transfers between hospitals when needed.
• Respond to medical record requests from patients, physicians, and hospitals.
• Maintain cash drawer and logs of payments and admissions.
• Maintain visitor/vendor log.
