Job summary

Primary Health Care, Inc. is seeking a Patient Access Representative I to join the front desk of our University Medical Clinic in Des Moines, IA. The role focuses on greeting patients, handling registrations, scheduling, and coordinating with care teams to ensure smooth clinic operations.

Spanish language skills are required. You will work Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, on-site, with potential for shift variety or location float and mileage incentives.

Qualifications

• Bilingual Spanish/English communication skills, written and verbal.
• Experience in healthcare, human services, social services, or customer service.
• Excellent customer service skills and commitment to service excellence.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Ability to follow instructions and use basic math and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Greets visitors and provides prompt, friendly service to ensure needs are met.
• Schedules patient appointments for medical and/or dental clinics.
• Completes accurate patient registration with contact, income, homeless status and guarantor details.
• Loads insurance information and uses Real Time Eligibility to verify coverage.
• Performs insurance verification and assists with sliding fee program enrollment.
• Collects and processes patient payments and manages cash handling.
• Scans and indexes patient documents into electronic health records.
• Monitors schedules and contacts patients for recalls to optimize appointments.
