Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors required.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology; excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA and all regulations in Admissions and Medical Records handling.
• Provide excellent customer service by understanding customer needs and building strong relationships.
• Verify and collect complete demographic information to support revenue cycle processing.
• Verify insurance benefits and enter correct payor and plan in patient accounting system.
• Obtain required signatures on forms and consents; coordinate patient transfers when needed.
• Maintain cash drawer and logs for patients, payments, and admissions.
