Job summary

Emerus Holdings, Inc. is seeking a Patient Access Specialist at our Kelly facility. The role acts as a liaison between patients, payers and the revenue cycle, collecting demographic information and securing out-of-pocket payments to maximize hospital reimbursement.

You will ensure EMTALA/HIPAA compliance, verify benefits, obtain authorizations, and provide excellent customer service while handling registrations, cash management, and medical records in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting preferred.
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA and all regulations in Admissions and Medical Records.
• Provide excellent customer service and build quality relationships with customers.
• Identify and triage patients upon arrival to the hospital.
• Record messages and communicate to appropriate medical staff.
• Obtain signatures on required forms and consents.
• Enter complete demographic information to facilitate revenue cycle processing.
• Verify insurance benefits and correct payor/plan in the patient accounting system.
• Obtain insurance authorizations as required.
• Pursue collections at the time of service in a customer-service oriented fashion.
• Scan registrations and clinical documents into the system.
• Assist with patient transfers between hospitals and respond to medical record requests.
• Maintain cash drawer and log payments, transfers and admissions.
• Maintain visitor/vendor log.
