Job summary

Emerus is seeking a Patient Access Specialist in Wisconsin to serve as a liaison between patients, payers, and healthcare teams. You will collect demographic data, verify insurance, and secure out-of-pocket payments to optimize hospital reimbursement.

You will maintain accurate records, assist with transfers, and support the revenue cycle while delivering courteous, compliant, and efficient service in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience in healthcare preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare and Medicaid plans required.
• English fluency; Spanish helpful in some markets.

Responsibilities

• Maintain EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA compliance for Admissions and Medical Records.
• Provide excellentCustomer service and build relationships with patients and families.
• Identify and triage patients upon arrival to ensure safety.
• Answer calls professionally and relay messages to staff.
• Obtain signatures on forms and consents.
• Enter accurate demographic information for accounts to support revenue cycle.
• Verify insurance benefits and correct payor and plan in system.
• Obtain authorizations as required by plans.
• Pursue collections at point of service to maximize reimbursement.
• Scan registrations and clinical documents into system.
