Emerus, a leader in small-format hospitals, seeks a Patient Access Specialist in Milwaukee, WI to join the admissions team. You will verify demographics, secure insurance details, and collect out-of-pocket responsibility to maximize hospital reimbursement.

In this role you will handle front-desk duties, ensure proper patient identification, and coordinate with clinical staff to support accurate intake and documentation while delivering friendly, efficient service to diverse patient populations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years patient registration and insurance verification experience.
• ED registration experience preferred.
• Knowledge of HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid.
• Basic medical terminology.
• Excellent customer service.
• MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) experience.
• English fluency; bilingual in El Paso market.

Responsibilities

• Maintain EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA and regulations for Admissions.
• Provide excellent customer service and build quality relationships.
• Identify and triage patients upon arrival.
• Answer phones professionally and relay messages.
• Obtain signatures on forms and consents.
• Enter complete demographic information for accounts.
• Verify insurance benefits and payor details.
• Obtain authorizations as required by plans.
• Assist collections at the time of service.
• Scan registrations and medical records into the system.
• Coordinate patient transfers to other hospitals.
• Respond to medical record requests.
• Maintain cash drawer and log payments/admissions.
• Maintain visitor/vendor logs.
