Job summary

Emerus is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to join our admissions team in a hospital setting. You will identify patients, verify demographics, insurance benefits, and collect patient information to support accurate revenue cycle processing.

Responsibilities include EMTALA/HIPAA compliance, delivering excellent customer service, handling registrations, coordinating transfers, and maintaining medical records.

Qualifications

• Customer service oriented and able to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and health care systems.
• Experience with patient registration and insurance verification preferred.
• English fluency required; Spanish fluency in El Paso market noted.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA and hospital regulations.
• Verify demographics and insurance information to facilitate revenue cycle processing.
• Obtain signatures on forms and consents.
• Answer calls professionally and relay messages to appropriate staff.
• Assist with transferring patients between facilities when needed.
• Maintain medical records and registration documentation.
• Pursue collections at time of service in a courteous manner.
• Maintain cash drawer and logs for patients and payments.
