Job summary

Catholic Charities of New York is seeking a Hotline Counselor (SPANISH) to support immigration-related calls at 80 Maiden Lane, New York, NY. The role provides information, referrals, and guidance while coordinating with the Hotline Services team.

The ideal candidate will be bilingual (English/Spanish), able to handle high-volume, time-sensitive inquiries, and maintain accurate records. This is a full-time, on-site position with funding through 2027 and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university, or equivalent professional training and experience related to the position.
• Experience handling immigration hotline calls preferred.
• Experience as an immigration counselor or paralegal, or demonstrated experience working with immigration law, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer calls and provide information regarding immigration procedures, policies, and developments.
• Collaborate with leadership to respond to rapid response calls including urgent removal or detention matters.
• Handle rapid response requests by gathering information and coordinating referrals.
• Schedule appointments, provide referrals, and complete rapid response requests promptly.
• Share pro se resources and Know Your Rights information for immigration court proceedings.
• Participate in ongoing training on immigration laws and policy developments.
• Assist victims of immigration consultant fraud in filing complaints with authorities.
• Participate in outreach events to inform communities about Hotline services.
• Complete timely data entry to document services and analyze trends.
