Job summary

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York's Immigrant & Refugee Services Division seeks a Hotline Counselor (SPANISH) to support callers with urgent immigration information, referrals, and guidance through the MOIA Immigration Legal Support Hotline.

Under supervision of the Hotline Director of Operations and Team Coordinator, you will handle high-volume calls, document services, and coordinate with internal and external partners to assist individuals facing imminent removal or detention.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university, or equivalent professional training and experience.
• Previous experience handling immigration hotline calls preferred.
• Previous experience as an immigration counselor or paralegal, or demonstrated experience working with immigration law, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer calls on the Immigration Legal Support Hotline and provide general information regarding immigration procedures, policies, and developments.
• Collaborate with the Director of Hotline Operations, Hotline Director, and other Team Coordinators to respond to rapid response calls and time-sensitive immigration matters.
• Handle rapid response requests by gathering information, coordinating with resources, and completing referrals or follow-up.
• Schedule appointments, provide referrals, and complete Rapid Response requests accurately and promptly.
• Share pro se resources and Know Your Rights information, including guidance on immigration court proceedings.
• Attend ongoing training on immigration laws, regulations, and policy developments to stay current on enforcement and removal issues.
