Job summary

Atlanta Gas Light is seeking an entry-level general technician for below-ground work, including installing, maintaining, and repairing gas mains and service lines. The role involves operating basic equipment, performing leak checks, meter tasks, and supporting field operations with safety and regulatory compliance.

You will work with a crew under bargaining unit terms with automatic progression under the collective bargaining agreement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to use basic hand tools.
• Ability to pass basic skills and knowledge assessments.
• Valid Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

• Assist installation, repair and maintenance of gas distribution lines.
• Operate basic equipment and tools; manage traffic control and landscaping tasks.
• Conduct leaks tests and record pressure readings.
• Assist in connecting and disconnecting gas service; read meters and perform meter-related tasks.
• Support in ERT installations and programming with Automated Meter Reading duties.
• Maintain documentation in Mobile Data Terminal and ensure compliance with safety rules.
• Observe safety and regulatory guidelines; communicate with customers as needed.
• Perform other job-related duties as required.
