Job summary

The Sheridan Group is hiring for a Baler Technician on a 12‑hour night shift. You will operate recycling equipment, bale paper by‑products, and transport finished bales using pallet jacks or forklifts. Training is provided to help you grow in a manufacturing setting.

You will weigh bales, maintain records, and perform routine equipment maintenance while following safety procedures and working with a supportive team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic math skills and ability to record weights/production data.
• Ability to read and follow written work instructions and safety procedures.
• Mechanical aptitude and interest in operating equipment.
• Dependable, safety‑mocused, and quality‑driven.
• Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Operate recycling equipment that shreds, compresses, and bales paper by‑products.
• Thread and secure tie bands around completed bales.
• Move finished bales to storage using pallet jacks, hoists or forklifts.
• Weigh bales and record weights and material grades.
• Perform daily forklift inspections and complete equipment checklists.
• Conduct routine cleaning, lubrication, and minor maintenance on baling equipment.
• Clear paper obstructions from the cyclone system when needed.
• Assist with loading bales for shipment and complete shipping documentation as needed.
• Photograph containers and seals for shipment verification.
• Follow safe work practices in a team environment.
