Job summary

Hims & Hers is a leading health and wellness platform focused on delivering accessible, affordable care. We are seeking a Software Engineer II to design, implement, and maintain scalable backend systems across our Patient Health Data Platform.

You will work on moderately complex projects, contribute to design decisions, and uphold testing and observability standards. You will collaborate with a cross-functional squad to break down features, review code, and own technical debt while driving

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience shipping production code.
• Experience contributing to back-end distributed systems and services.
• Familiarity with microservice architectures.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Experience building scalable web apps and services in the cloud.
• Experience deploying front ends and microservices on Kubernetes and AWS.
• Experience with agile software development and delivery.
• Experience with CI/CD and automated tests.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or relational databases.
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work with squads and take ownership.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement moderately complex, scalable backend solutions.
• Write clear technical design documents aligning squad objectives.
• Write modular, testable code and ensure squad testing standards.
• Provide constructive feedback in code reviews and maintain conventions.
• Address technical debt and balance with new features.
• Participate in product discovery to validate ideas with prototypes.
• Collaborate with other engineers for clean integration across systems.
• Implement observability (logging/monitoring/alerts) and resolve issues.
• Break projects into actionable tasks and drive from planning to delivery.
• Analyze performance metrics and user feedback for improvements.
• Create and maintain technical documentation.
• Share knowledge and contribute to process improvements.
• Assist with technical screens or interviews and mentor juniors.
