Job summary

Hims & Hers is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Subscriptions and Membership Platform. You will design scalable backend systems, own billing lifecycle, and collaborate with commerce, clinical care, pharmacy, and fulfillment teams to enhance customer activation and retention.

Mentorship, code quality, and strategic technical decisions are key aspects of this role. You will work on architecture decisions, monitoring, and performance improvements while enabling an intuitive end-to-end

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with senior technical leadership exposure.
• Experience building platform infrastructure for retention and engagement, preferably in cloud environments (AWS).
• Proficiency in backend tech: Spring, Java, Kotlin, PostgreSQL.
• Ability to optimize web service metrics (speed, reliability) and design scalable systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and architecture of scalable backend solutions for the subscriptions and membership platform.
• Own core subscription and billing systems including lifecycle management and workflow orchestration.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across commerce, clinical care, pharmacy, and fulfillment.
• Mentor team on best practices, patterns, and coding standards.
• Drive security, scalability, and performance improvements.
