Job summary

Hims & Hers is seeking a Software Engineer II to design and build scalable backend services for the Patient Health Data Platform. You will work with a squad to implement distributed systems, contribute to design decisions, and improve testing, reliability, and observability across services.

You will collaborate with engineers, participate in product discovery, and drive tasks from planning to delivery while owning code quality and performance trade-offs.

Qualifications

• 2+ years software engineering, shipping production code.
• Experience with backend distributed systems and microservices.
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Experience building scalable cloud-based applications.
• Experience deploying Kubernetes and AWS workloads.
• Ideally familiarity with CI/CD and automated testing.
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
• Experience with relational databases, PostgreSQL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement moderately complex, scalable backend solutions.
• Contribute to design decisions and write technical design documents.
• Write modular, testable code and verify unit/integration tests.
• Participate in code reviews and own technical debt fixes.
• Engage in product discovery and prototype validation.
• Ensure clean integration across systems and services.
• Implement observability and monitor system performance.
