Job summary

Axos Bank is seeking a Software Development Manager, AVP to lead engineering delivery for the Core Services platform, overseeing Identity, Rules Manager, Document, Notification, and APIs. This role requires hands-on leadership with production ownership, incident management, and delivery governance across multiple backend services.

The ideal candidate has strong .NET expertise, experience with distributed systems, and a track record of delivering mission-critical platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
• 8+ years of software engineering with 3+ years in leadership roles.
• Strong .NET backend, APIs, and distributed systems experience.
• Proven experience with mission-critical, high-availability platforms.
• Experience leading onshore/offshore teams across time zones.
• Excellent stakeholder management and executive communication.
• OutSystems experience or ability to learn quickly for platform delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of Senior Engineers, Tech Leads, and offshore developers.
• Own end-to-end delivery of Core Services platforms (Identity, Rules Manager, Document, Notification, APIs).
• Drive engineering standards for code quality, performance, scalability, and security.
• Ensure production stability and rapid incident resolution including RCA/ITN.
• Collaborate with Product Owners for clear requirements and commitments.
• Enforce release governance meeting SLA and QE approvals.
• Lead architecture discussions and modernization initiatives.
• Champion OutSystems-based development and integration with .NET services.
• Coordinate with Infra/DBA/NOC on capacity, deployments, performance.
• Foster ownership, accountability, and after-hours support culture.
• Drive talent development, hiring, and performance management.
• Provide executive-level updates on delivery status, risks, and mitigations.
