Job summary

Axos Bank is seeking a Software Development Manager, AVP to lead engineering delivery for the Core Services platform. This on-site role will own end-to-end design, development, delivery, and production stability across multiple backend services, with a hands-on leadership approach in .NET and distributed systems.

The role requires producing high-quality software, managing onshore/offshore teams, and guiding architecture modernization including OutSystems integration where applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field
• 8+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years in engineering leadership
• Strong expertise in .NET backend development, APIs, distributed systems
• Experience managing mission-critical, high-availability platforms
• Experience leading onshore/offshore teams and driving accountability across time zones
• OutSystems experience (or commitment to learn rapidly) for platform delivery use cases

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of engineers and offshore developers
• Own end-to-end delivery of Core Services platforms: Identity, Rules Manager, Documents, Notifications, and APIs
• Drive high engineering standards in code quality, performance, scalability, and security
• Ensure production stability and rapid incident resolution; participate in RCA and ITN processes
• Partner with Product Owners to ensure clear requirements and realistic commitments
• Enforce release governance standards and QE approvals
• Lead architecture discussions and modernization (service isolation, caching, scalability)
• Champion OutSystems-based development where applicable
• Collaborate with Infra, DBA, and NOC on capacity planning and performance
• Foster ownership, accountability, and after-hours production support
• Drive talent development, hiring, and performance management
• Provide executive-level communication on delivery status, risks, incidents, and mitigations
