Job summary

Axos Bank is seeking a Software Development Manager, AVP to lead the engineering delivery for Axos Bank's Core Services platform. This hands-on leader will own design, development, and production stability across backend services underpinning all lines of business.

The role requires deep expertise in .NET and distributed systems, strong incident management, and delivery governance. OutSystems experience or willingness to learn is a key asset. On-site across nationwide Axos offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 8+ years software engineering experience with 3+ years leadership.
• Strong expertise in .NET backend development, APIs, and distributed systems.
• Experience with mission-critical, high-availability platforms.
• Knowledge of production support, incident response, and RCA processes.
• Experience leading onshore/offshore teams across time zones.
• Excellent stakeholder management and executive communication.
• OutSystems experience or willingness to learn quickly for platform delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of Senior Engineers, Tech Leads, and offshore developers.
• Own end-to-end delivery of Core Services platforms including Identity, Rules Manager, Document, Notification, and APIs.
• Drive engineering standards for code quality, performance, scalability, and security.
• Ensure production stability and rapid incident resolution with RCA involvement.
• Partner with Product Owners for clear requirements, realistic commitments, and predictable delivery.
• Enforce release governance and QE approvals for all deliverables.
• Lead architecture discussions and modernization, including service isolation and caching.
• Champion OutSystems-based development and integration with .NET services.
• Collaborate with Infra, DBA, and NOC on capacity, deployments, and performance.
• Foster ownership, accountability, and responsiveness; support after-hours production needs.
• Drive talent development, hiring, and performance management.
• Provide executive-level delivery status, risks, incidents, and mitigation plans.
