Job summary

Axos Bank is seeking a Software Development Manager, AVP to lead engineering delivery for Axos Bank's Core Services platform, the backbone of the enterprise. This hands-on leader will own end-to-end design, development, delivery, and production stability across backend services that underpin all lines of business.

The role requires strong expertise in .NET and distributed systems with production ownership, incident management, and delivery governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years in engineering leadership.
• Strong expertise in .NET backend development, APIs, and distributed systems.
• Experience managing mission-critical, high-availability platforms.
• Production support, incident response, and RCA processes knowledge.
• Experience leading onshore/offshore teams across time zones.
• Ability to deliver in regulated environments.
• OutSystems experience or aptitude to learn rapidly.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of Senior Engineers, Tech Leads, and offshore developers.
• Own end-to-end delivery of Core Services platforms including Identity, Rules Manager, Document, Notification, and APIs.
• Drive high engineering standards across code quality, performance, scalability, and security.
• Ensure production stability and rapid incident resolution, including RCA and ITN participation.
• Partner with Product Owners for clear requirements and predictable delivery.
• Enforce release governance standards and QE approvals.
• Lead architecture discussions and modernization initiatives, including service isolation and caching.
• Champion OutSystems-based development and integration with .NET services.
• Collaborate with Infra, DBA, and NOC on capacity planning, deployments, and performance optimization.
• Build a culture of ownership, accountability, and after-hours support.
• Drive talent development, hiring, and performance management.
• Provide executive-level communication on delivery status, risks, and mitigation.
